Poway is also home to some of San Diego’s most beautiful hiking and walking trails. Notable trails in the area include Iron Mountain, Blue Sky Canyon, Twin Peaks, and the Lake Poway side access to the popular Mt. Woodson Trail, home of the famous “Potato Chip Rock.” Lake Poway offers seasonal camping, boating, fishing, and other recreational activities.
Prefer quiet and less outdoorsy activities? The Poway Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA) shouldn’t be missed! PCPA holds different shows and exhibits year-round. From plays to art shows and concerts, there’s a lot to do and experience at PCPA! Many PUSD school events are also held here, as PCPA has an 809-seat theatre.
Old Poway Park is another community gem. Centrally located off Midland Road, this park is home to the Poway Midland Railroad Train Depot, the historic Templars Hall, the Porter House, and many local restaurants and businesses. It also offers a large grassy area for children to play. The Poway Midland Railroad is a “a full-size, narrow-gauge railroad” that allows visitors to ride on vintage railroad cars. They also host special events throughout the year which are a lot of fun. Old Poway Park itself is the site of many of Poway’s most important annual events including Poway Winter Festival and Poway’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July celebration.
