The French Oven Bakery, a beloved Scripps Ranch cafe with deep family roots, is gearing up to open its second location in Del Mar at 11988 El Camino Real. This exciting expansion will bring their signature pastries, bread, and more to the ground floor of Del Mar Gateway, a prominent workplace in the area. The new spot is set to open in February 2025.

This milestone is a proud achievement for owners Yves and Susie Fournier. Yves, a fifth-generation baker from the French Alps, has dedicated his life to perfecting the art of baking. He grew up in the village of Veyrier du Lac, where his family’s baking tradition dates back to the 1800s. The bakery even displays an old family sign from 1840, shipped all the way from France to San Diego in 2017.

The French Oven began in 2016 as a pop-up from their home, delighting neighbors with croissants and other French treats. Thanks to overwhelming community support, they opened their first bakery and now, almost a decade later, are ready to share their craft with Del Mar.

Yves has over 30 years of experience, having trained in France and worked for prestigious hotels across San Diego and beyond. Before opening The French Oven, he was an Executive Baking and Pastry Chef Instructor, sharing his passion with aspiring chefs. The Del Mar location promises to bring even more of that dedication to quality and tradition to the community.
