If you’re looking for a night of live music, humor, and glamor in North County, make your way to New Village Arts this month. Local theater standout Erica Marie Weisz returns to Carlsbad with her solo cabaret show, I Can Cook, Too!, running now through May 26 on the Ray Charles Stage in the Conrad Prebys Theatre.

This lively, one-woman performance is part concert, part comedy, and all heart. Featuring a mix of jazz standards and Broadway favorites, Weisz brings her signature charm and powerhouse vocals to a personal and playful set, backed by a live band and sprinkled with stories, sparkling gowns, and sharp-witted banter.

The show’s title comes from a song by Leonard Bernstein, but its inspiration has deeper roots. During the COVID lockdowns, Weisz created a web series called Quarantine Cooking with Erica Marie, blending music and home cooking into something uniquely her own. That idea eventually evolved into a one-hour cabaret, which she performed to sold-out crowds—and now, it’s back, fully reimagined for New Village Arts and infused with new material inspired by life in Carlsbad Village.

“This version really came from a fresh place,” said Weisz. “I kept the soul of the original, but rebuilt it with a new lens—centered on the joy of being back in this community and performing live again.”

Weisz is no stranger to the NVA stage, having recently starred in The 39 Steps and The Thanksgiving Play. She’s also lit up local productions at Moonlight Stage, Cygnet Theatre, and beyond, with standout roles in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Guys and Dolls, Grease, and The Addams Family. But I Can Cook, Too! is her chance to take full creative control, blending her love for vintage jazz, storytelling, and showmanship into a night of pure entertainment.

Performances run through May 26, with tickets ranging from $20–30. Whether you’re a fan of cabaret, musical theater, or simply want to experience something refreshingly personal and local, this show is a perfect excuse for a night out in Carlsbad.
