For the first time, six San Diego County ZIP codes made PropertyShark’s annual list of the 100 most expensive areas. The previous record was five ZIPs in 2023.

San Diego County may be holding its own, but it’s still far behind Los Angeles County, which has 18 ZIP codes on the list, making it the nation’s priciest county. Following L.A. are Santa Clara County (16 ZIPs), Orange County (11 ZIPs), and New York’s Suffolk County (8 ZIPs).

California dominates the list with 80 ZIP codes, representing 66% of the total. New York comes in second with 19 ZIPs.

PropertyShark compiles its list based on transactions from January 1 to September 30. Here’s a look at San Diego County’s top ZIP codes:

Rancho Santa Fe (92067)

Rank: No. 9
Median Sale Price: $4.55 million
Up from No. 10 the past two years, Rancho Santa Fe continues to climb the list. In 2021, it was No. 18—the first time a San Diego ZIP made the top 20. It’s been rising since then, ranking No. 26 in 2016, No. 32 in 2017, No. 29 in both 2018 and 2019, and No. 23 in 2020.

Del Mar (92014)

Rank: No. 40
Median Sale Price: $2.8 million
Del Mar moved up from No. 51 last year. Known for its oceanfront living, the area has recently been at the center of a legal dispute regarding the development of a 259-unit apartment complex.

Coronado (92118)

Rank: No. 57
Median Sale Price: $2.4 million
Coronado moved up slightly from No. 61 last year. Recently, the city settled a dispute with the state, agreeing to make room for up to 912 new homes.

La Jolla (92037)

Rank: No. 74
Median Sale Price: $2.18 million
La Jolla barely made the list last year at No. 99. This year, it jumped to No. 74, partly driven by major sales like the Foxhill Estate and another large property, both selling for $35 million.

Cardiff (92007)

Rank: No. 82
Median Sale Price: $2.1 million
Cardiff inched up from No. 86 last year. The development of new housing projects has been a hot topic in the beach community, especially in the recent mayoral debate.

Carmel Valley (92130)

Rank: No. 92
Median Sale Price: $1.96 million
Carmel Valley made its debut on the list this year. The ZIP code includes areas like Pacific Highlands Ranch, Del Mar Mesa, and Rancho Pacifica.
