The pandas are officially back at the San Diego Zoo, and the excitement is off the charts! After four years without these beloved bears, visitors can finally see them again!
Yun Chuan, a 5-year-old male, is already making himself at home, relaxing with his favorite snack: bamboo. He’s got quite the appetite, and it’s clear that this guy is all about his food. His connection to the zoo is special too—his mom was born here in 2007, and his grandmother was one of the zoo’s very first pandas, living here for over 20 years.
Joining Yun Chuan is Xin Bao, a 4-year-old female known for her smarts and adventurous spirit. It’s exciting to think they might start a new panda family here, marking a fresh chapter in the zoo’s panda history.
China typically leases pandas to zoos around the world, but with recent events, there were concerns about whether they’d come back. Fortunately, after a meeting between the two countries’ Presidents in late 2023, it seems the pandas are here to stay!
Now that they’re back at the San Diego Zoo, it feels like a new chapter is beginning. With the zoo’s long history with these bears, it’s the perfect spot for this panda comeback!
If you’re eager to meet Yun Chuan and Xin Bao up close, there are three awesome ways to experience giant pandas at the San Diego Zoo.
